the mouth bit turned out great on the model.
if you had to scan the painting; how did you get it to wrap the model properly? did you just have to realign it with the unwrap?

yep, that's exactly what I did
I put the original texture output and the scanned texture in gimp (I hate that program, I should get photoshop) and tried to make them match
